Annexations

The City can accept voluntary petitions for annexation into the City anytime from properties that are currently in the City's ETJ (extraterritorial jurisdiction) and contiguous with the city limits (map).  

Annexation Process

• Submit complete petition form
  • Signed and notarized 
  • Metes and bounds description
  • Survey of property
  • Deed of ownership
  • Draft Post Annexation Provision of Services Agreement
• City engineers will verify the survey and contiguity with the city limits 
• City attorneys will draft an annexation schedule 
• City Council will hear the petition 
• If City Council accepts the petition the annexation will follow the approved dates on the schedule 
• 2 month process 
• 1 City Council hearing on the petition, 2 City Council public hearings on the draft municipal service plan, 2 City Council hearings on the annexation ordinance. Hearings can be concurrent.
